I am planning a beach party at Paynetown State Recreation Area at Lake Monroe just outside of Bloomington Indiana. My two 16' Hobies and my 21SE Hobie will be ready to "rock 'n roll ". I have reserved two camp sites #209 and #207 capable of hosting 12 people. These camp sites have a trail down to a small cove and beach that is great place to party and sail out of. September 7th 8th & 9th. 8)

Bring your boat and have a good time....

In southern Indiana, we call this a beach!

It sounds great! I'll be there camping with my sailorman...

I heard a rumor that campsites are going fast for this big shindig and representatives for Lake Monroe and Eagle Creek sailing clubs may be there in force as well :D

Here is the site to reserve campsites:

Do you think there will be any water left by sept? :o Just got back from Eagle creek tonight, have never seen it as low as it is, in July. And as a bonus got to watch a grass fire over at the airport. Sound like a good time, may ask for a hall pass.

There better be some water left! If not, I'll just bring some with me from Florida. We have plenty down here.

Well it is time to load up and head for the Lake Monroe for a three day weekend. :D

Again, I am extending an invitation to anyone to join us. Several camp sites are reserved so there is plenty of room. :)

Today, winds up to 10 mph.Tonight it will rain but Saturday forecast is 10-15 mph wind with gusts up to 25 mph as a front blows into Indiana. :o Sunday winds 5-10 mph

There should be a good turnout as many local sailors and one out of state sailor are coming to my beach party. :D

Curious, how'd it go? I'm from the North side of the state and my H16 was in the eagle creek fleet prior to me owning it. Wanted to get down there but the drive was a little much for me, I'm from Indiana but live a couple hours north of the state line now.
Maybe next year

We had a great turn out! Photos to follow... :D

Thanks for the interest and a special thanks to the "Promise Breakers" who drove all the way from Chicago to attend. :P

I have known for decades several of the sailors who came down for this party and it was great to get "the band" back together again.

Sharing a history of friendship and the passion for sailing is what is was all about.

Jay,

I will be host an event at Weko Beach this summer. I have not set that date yet. Last year, it was the weekend after Labor Day which worked out well but I need input from my sailing buddies and we have not taken the time to plan what works.

Any ideas?

So far we have two 21SE, several 16's ,a couple of 18's, a 30'Catalina, a large Tellstar trimaran
( rumor has it that Meg Ryan sails on it), a very large double mast sailboat, some jet skis, a couple of ski boats and an assortment of other small sailboats.
Even an old friend from Wichita wants to bring his 14 Turbo...and a guy from Summit, New Jersey?

I am going to need to get some more beer................

The Mother of all Sailing Bashes
Bill knows how to Party and have fun and Lake Monroe is great place to sail. Bill's Sailing Bashes are legendary, a cross between The Hangover and National Lampoons Animal house with a little Water World a little Cheech and Chong thrown in for good measure. Heck yah I'am going!

This was posted today under events on thebeachcats.com

He will be driving 14 hours and another guy from Summit, NJ is also getting heading over..........WOW

Bill,

I can't wait. I'm glad to hear you are organizing this again. Last year was a blast.

All others,

If you like great sailing and great company, salt free, then I highly recommend this event. Lake Monroe offers great sailing, a decent campground and you choose your mix of sailing vs partying. I recommend too much of both! Also nearby is the campus of IU and a mid-sized town with a full compliment of restaurants, hotels, and watering holes, incase you are not the camping type.

See you there!
