I've recently purchased a Hobie Ai and I'm looking to see if there are any groups or individual's that sail in the New England / Mass area?

Thanks in advance

KJ

I live in western MA and mostly go out on the lakes in the area but have also taken a few trips down to the sound.

I'm originally from Central CT, but live in Maui now. I do get back for a few weeks most years to visit family and friends.

Pete, what part of CT do you live?

Greetings from Naugatuck Bob!

Connecticut's been fine . The major redo as of late is the new overpasses/ramps around New Haven and the new Pearl Harbor Bridge that connects over East Haven. I primarily paddle/sail Long Island Sound and once in a very great while freshwater. I'm not a fan if the local lakes and ponds though if its unusually clear I don't mind it. Most of my Long Island sound sailing is out of new haven harbor as a default home base launch point though with the craft being car too friendly I go out to Newport too . Sailing neath the huge bridge is a blast of a view.

I've been looking at Monomoy Island of the Cape as if late. I won't be able to get there this winter but in the spring I want to sail the ten miles out to its farthest southern reaches and then come up around the east side where there are - sheesh - hundreds if not thousands if seals all along this desolate beach. The downside is the white sharks the colony has brought with them but I have three hulls afterall lol. For now that's my sailing nirvana goal. Go slip along silently off that coastline populated with seals - an uncommon sight here in LI Sound. Though some are spotted in winter on different islands and rocky out croppings.

Small world Bob!

Pete

Hi,

I know this is an old thread, but I'm resurrecting it anyway...

I'm very close to buying an AI- had my eye on these for a while now. I just have to figure out how to transport it with a Mini Cooper. Anyway, I'm located in Mystic, CT and agree it would be great fun to meet up with other AI/TI people.

Thanks!

A

You can always tow it with the Mini on a trailer - I've seen plenty of guys with Mini's towing, they make a tow hitch for the car. I had a mini for 4 years, great little fun cars!

Yep, I've looked into that as well, but storage of the trailer is an issue in my current situation. The guy wants to sell ASAP, and I love it, but it just may not be the right time. Hopefully I can figure something out. Thanks for your input!
