I just got off the phone with my local dealer and was a bit shocked. I inquired about replacing a plastic alligator clip for the trampoline of my TI. The dealer stated that he called Hobie and that I needed a "Web buckle assembly" Cost over $13.

That seemed a bit much. He said we were talking apples and apples but I just wanted to be sure. Has anyone else had to replace a broken buckle? If so is the "Web buckle Assembly" the correct part to be ordering?

Thanks

Thanks. Is it possible just to get the male portion of the plastic buckle and not the entire assembly?

They may not match if we changed vendors along the way... the risk. We did increase strength at some point.

There is a part number for each (I'm surprised they are not sets!).

8002052 BUCKLE 1-1/2" SIDE RLSE MALE $1.79

8002053 BUCKLE 1-1/2" SIDE RLSE FEMALE $1.79

Depending on what year TI you have there are two types of buckles, the old style (1" wide ( I think 2013 and older)) and the new stronger/better style (1 1/2"wide). What I don't know for sure is if the new stronger better buckles will fit on the older tramps (the ones with the old 1" buckles), I see no reason why not after thinking about it. I have gone thru almost a dozen of the old style 1" wide buckles, in my opinion they are crap...., if you can get the new wider ones to work on older tramps it would likely be a good upgrade, just replace them as they break with the new faster/stronger better one's.
Actually I was just in the dealer a few days ago to get three more broken straps replaced, if I had thought about it I would have purchased the newer wider straps and just made them work (DAH).
That $13 price is for the complete strap with the buckles, you will need to buy that if you are upgrading to the newer style. That's what I'm planning to do ( I'll still keep my safety straps though just in case).
Hope this helps
Bob

That is why we only offer the stronger one in the strap assembly. Yes, they fit all vintage tramps.

Thanks. I guess I'll replace them as they break but kind of a pricey endeavor at $13 a pop. Saw a new tramp at the dealer today and the larger straps/buckles look much stronger.
