Hey everyone,
New to the forum and excited to say that I will be taking delivery of a new-to-me Hobie 16 in two days! I was looking for a little bit of guidance as to what I need to look out for most. I am aware to keep a sharp eye for soft spots in the hulls, and the owners listing has stated that the following were all replaced/new to the boat last year:
- new trampoline - new trampoline rail cushions - new standing rigging - new running rigging - new telescopic tiller - new multiple quick releases - new baby bob mast float - new trapeeze (x2) - new trapeeze harnesses - repainted trailer - new trailer light kit (just installed) - numerous extra parts - new "Sit and Sail" Wings!!! These are awesome! Would not own a Hobie without them! - new "Hot Tamale" Main Sail - new matching red Jibb Sail - new main sheet - new jibb sheet - cat trax (one tire brand new) - new bag for sails
Are there any must haves for this boat? And finally, I grew up sailing FJs a few weeks a summer out on Lake Erie, so this is my first go around with a cat and I would still classify myself as a beginner. Im a little intimidated by the idea of having to step the mast every time I go out (I will be keeping boat on trailer) so any tips on that would be great as well. Any good tips on hobie clubs/places to sail in the Toledo, Ohio/Kenosha, WI area?
Thanks so much and I'm so excited to become a part of this family!
