I recently purchased a used Hobie Outback. The first time I took it out I discovered it only turned left and hard left. Below are pics of the steering and rudder. I'm not familar with Hobies so any suggestions to what's the problem is greatly appreciated .

First... the stainless mount is bent off to the left.

Bend it straight and then adjust steering lines while steering handle is centered in it's throw. That is pointed to the right at about 20 degrees or so. Swing the handle left and right... to find the center... not to be pointed straight ahead... when the rudder is centered.

The rudder mount is bent. The rudder should be vertical - not at an angle. You might just bend it back into shape - or if needed you can buy a replacement mount part # 81350001 from any Hobie kayak dealer - to find a dealer click the link at the top of this page or here: http://www.hobiecat.com/dealers/

Thanks for the help.I bent it back.

I'm also thinking about taking off some of the existing mounts and installing gear tracs. Any suggestions?
