I'd like to attach a single Spectra 'safety' line to each AMA bungee cord. One end ties around the AKA bungee post. After threading the other end into the threaded shock cord fitting what knot on the bungee will keep the spectra line from pulling back out of the fitting should the bungee fail?

thanx,
bill

I about to do the same to my TI, so I have thought about this a bit. I believe the very safest solution is to thread the Spectra (I assume you are using stuff similar to the rudder lines) through a button large enough to not fit through the hole at the top of the screw fitting. That way, even if the bungee breaks, the spectra will independently hold the ama and aka together.

Hi Tony,

FYI:
I replaced my white center 5/16" bungee cord with black center 1/4" bungee. I tied a figure 8 on the running end of the spectra (rudder line), but it pulled through the shock cord fitting.

Tried tying a cinch knot (too large) and a clove hitch (slides) with no success. Finally I tied an overhand knot on the spectra running end and then a cow knot (a.k.a. lanyard knot) on the spectra (inside the shock cord fitting). The running end overhand knot keeps the slick spectra line from sliding through the cow knot. I'm definitely open to other's experience.

A line stopper small enough to fit the spectra line......and......fit inside the shock cord fitting may work too.

I doubled up my bungees, and reckon with the spectra, they should be totally bulletproof.
