Hull repair

I am attempting to repair damage to the side of our '84 H18 port hull. The hull was T-boned by the bow of a H21 at the leward mark (our fault not the H21). The outer skin was split lengthways 8"and vertically about 6" and the outer skin has become delaminated from the core foam for about 1-1/2'. The impact occured just below the deck to hull lip 2' forward of the rear cross beam. I was planning to repair using some of the delam repair proceedures discussed elsewere in the forum in addition to the reglassing of the outer skin. I can tell that the inner skin although still bonded to the foam core has ripped for about 1-1/2' were it used to attach to the outer layups at the lip area. How critical is it to repair the inner skin split. I can see two ways of repairing the inner skin 1) cut out more of the good outer skin, remove the core locally and reglass. 2) add an inspection port in the deck above the area in question and reglass inside. Any comments and advice would be very much appreciated.

This autum, I accidently ran into a landing ramp's side which resulted in about 1 meters crack on both of the inner sides of my HC17 starboard hull. It was pretty obvious that it was a severe damage as one could easily press the hulls sides inward and hear how the core crashed. What I did was adding an inspection hatch at the upside (RWO 152mm) that enabled me to put 3 layers of fibreglass in each direction (about 1.2 m). After the fibreglass with polyester plastic had hardened, the hull was as new again. I was pretty proud over the good result and I got a good hatch for storage of things. In total I added 3 hatches per hull as I had to repair the wing fastenings aswell.
