I ordered a Sandpiper Sand Chair by Stansport from Amazon. It fits perfectly. I may not even use the wood blocks. It was $22 with prime shipping.

Great idea to take a beach chair, but why couldn´t Hobie develop a better seat for the inflatables. Question to Matt: isn´t it possible to create a seat like the seat for the Outback 2015?

Thanks for an answer

I bought an additional seat for the i9s and successfully installed it at the back of the i12s. If you look carefully, you can strap it on quite tightly using what's already there.

It's a 2014 i12s model though, so I don't know if it will work for older models.

There isn't much leg space so I reckon it's good for a small person and not an adult. I had successfully taken my 8 year old out quite comfortably for several hours.

I also find that the Hobie seat with the Mirage i12 just crushes completely and I end up flat on my back. I then got myself a stadium seat from Bass Pro...looked hopeful. The same thing happened! I don't know what I'm doing wrong in fastening it. I checked it on the ground and it withstood leaning back but as soon as I was on the water...I was flat on my back again. I'm no tinkerer or able to think of a way to make the seat stay upright while pedaling....any suggestions? S.O.S. I love my Hobie!

Just a thought......Have you inflated the hull with enough air?
Could it be "bending under pressure" when you lean back?

I will definitely give your suggestions a go...straps and/or rails of some kind. If that fails, I'll get a Sea Eagle seat and sell or give my stadium seat to someone who can use it.

I too wish Hobie would get a rigid seat for the 2015 inflatoyaks! Alas, I'm no marathon runner or ballet dancer (I was once upon a time ago but no longer) *sigh*

I will also see if I'm inflating the hull enough - though I do think I am.

Thanks you two...you've given me hope!

:D

Does anyone know if the new rigid seat fits and 2014 i12? I need to do something. I can not stand the original seat.

Does not fit older models. The new hulls have wider floors... smaller side tubes.
