I like to dry sail my 21SE, that is, sail and trailer out on a ramp at the end of the day but store her mast up in a marina parking lot. Not many places allow this.
Anyone know of a place along Albermarle or Pamlico in NC

Frisco Woods Campground on Hatteras used to let you leave boats rigged on their beach- they don't have a ramp, though, just a beach. Also I've seen people leave boats at Canadian Hole (also Hatteras) overnight, but I don't know how the Park Service feels about that, and again no ramp, just beach. Hope this helps- Dave

No problem! :) I love sailing off Hatteras- it gets a little shallow in places- You wouldn't by any chance be the person with a 21 SE who rents Safari cottage in Buxton occasionally? You don't see too many 21 SE's any more- they're all SCs!

I've never sailed there, never been there, that's why I'm interested in info. I know the water's warm, low eighties in summer, and there are a lot of shallows, we're used to the sand bars around Cape Cod. Wind patterns and current strength I'm not sure of but I'm sure we can handle it. I'm pretty sure we are going to rent a cottage on Harkers Island for two weeks in June-July. We found a marina where we can dry sail the 21.

There is a little community north of Nags Head called Duck. There are several ramps in that area. I've used NorBanks Sailing Center off and on for over 15 years. Jon Britt runs the operation. Upstanding guy. Always fair to deal with. Contact him @ info@norbanks.com. He can give you fee information for keeping your boat there and good info on the sailing conditions there. It's located on Currituck Sound. The sailing area is 3-4 miles across and you can go north or south for miles. It's probably 15 miles from the wide water of Albamarle Sound.
