I have a nice Lowe's 16x20 tarp that I wrap around it and secure with several bungees. Plus I have an old boat seat cushion my friend was throwing away that I put between the mast & tarp between the rudders that holds the tarp up so water can't pool anywhere on the tarp. My only concern is the halyards on the mast are exposed to the elements. Do you guys have a "mast bag" or anything for that? I guess I could just get a small tarp and wrap the mast or something. I dunno.

I do the same basic thing as you, except that I do have another tarp to cover the comp tip.
Last winter, I took the mast off, put the boat in the garage and hung the mast outside under the eave of the garage.

As we're buying a house where our vehicles will actually fit inside the garage (imagine that!), I'm gonna have to figure something else out for this winter.

Fair Winds,
Nick

Yeah, I've beenthinking about getting one of those "portable garage" thingies. Not sure how expensive they are but it'd be nice to have the boat out of the sun, snow, etc.

Heh. Yeah, I'm moving to TX in two weeks. Hoping to rent a house with a garage and then hopefully I can fit the boat in there. :)

(No comp tip to worry about UV, but I'm wondering about the halyards in the weather...) :?

Oh, and those portable garage thingies are $500+ from what I've seen. Dunno.

Where to in Texas? I live in Houston and go to Austin almost every weekend. Sailing-wise, both have their advantages. Fresh water is nicer, but there's just something about the beach, and the ladies love seeing dolphins come up and say "Hi".

I have a covered parking spot with my apartment. They looked at me cross-eyed when I asked to store a boat under it. At first they said I couldn't, but then I said I pay for it, what do you care what I put there. It only takes up one spot. I've already had one boat towed this year, I didn't want to repeat the experience. The mast and tongue stick out considerably, but oh well...
