Finally! We got the spin mounted this weekend just in time for the statue of liberty race in sandy hook, NJ. We are using tiger pole, an old hobie snuffer (least i think its hobie but i'm not sure) and a spin from whirlwind sails. It was a distance race and on the way back the wind was behind us and we were jibing the whole way home with the spin out. It was great. The boat was smoking fast (wish i could say the same about the upwind leg hehehe). Wish I had some action shots but maybe next time. For now here is one off the bow and one of me getting eaten by the sail. And yes the cooler is full of high life. Thanks to everyone that has helped with my questions. seth

From the last shot, you need to either lower the pole or raise the hoist point. Lowering the pole is easier.

The luff of this sail will be more stable and easier to sail if it is really snug. The Tiger guys sail with it loaded to the point that if you grab the luff, it takes effort to turn your hand 90 degrees. Don't worry, the load on the sail at speed will make the luff rounder and look to be far less tight than on the beach.

you may want to add some pre bend to the pole as well.

Looks like you just used a regular tang for the spin halyard. I am asking this same question in the 18 forum and getting confused with using a "Bail instead with a sting attached?
