Looking for other people sailing Getaways or Adventure Islands in the Delta. I normally launch out of Pittsburg public ramp. Have the equipment and time but usually sailing solo. Was on the Co Co County Marine patrol so I know and enjoy boating the Delta.
Wife is a landlubber and kids too busy so looking for Delta Hobiers.
Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill
I live in Fremont , and get out to the delta all the time. I have a Getaway and a bad hip. Bottom line is raising the mast is a real chore. maybe we can hook up and sail.

Hobie now offers an EZ stepper mast raising system for the Getaway. It's designed for side-stepping masts. Check it out in the new online catalog at hobiecat.com.
P.S. Bill, I hope you're enjoying your new Getaway!

I have one on order. It looks like they will not be available until Mid July.

pejnielsen: that would be great. Just email contact info and we can go from there. coopserv"at"yahoo"dot"com.

Todd: Love the Getaway. Missed you when I took delivery. Had it out once and tried 2 more times. Hard to sail even the AI in 0 with gust to 3. Wish the Getaway had pedals.

EZstepper: Have one, wish they made it convertable so you could use it on 16-17-18-Getaway without bending the left side. Maybe use bolts and wingnuts so you could change the brace. I'll have to try.

Was over at Woodward no sailing, 0 w/gust to 5, just sunburn.
pejnielsen, hope to hear from you.
Todd, if I break something you'll hear from me.lol

Thanks for the replies, Bill

I live in the east bay and I will soon be upgrading from my current "sailboat" (below) to a Getaway.

I am hoping for a mild improvement in performance :)

I have secured the funding ... the wife said yes ... and decided that the Getaway is the boat I want. Hopefully the two biggest obstacles are behind me.

Bill / Paul,

I am itching to get out on the water in the Getaway but would enjoy some company.

In lieu of the masting raising system I happy to do the grunt work on your mast Paul.

If you guys are interested we would need to sort out a location and date.

Craig

Hey guys
It look as if the new system is finally in. Jeremy is checking it out as I write this. If it comes in then this weekend will be installing time. I will keep in touch and hook up soon!! Maybe we can get a plastic boat regatta together.

How is the mast system going? If several of us get together the mast is a non-isssue. Anyone sailing the Delta? I live in Concord but the boat is on a trailer :D Let me know if anyone is sailing.

Take a look at the mast raising section, I am trying to work through the process now. I meet Nerfrider today at Encinial launch ramp. The tided was low, but he managed to get his boat off the trailer and out for a sail. I am going to go back out now and see about finishing the mast project. I am dying to get her out.
Thanks
Paul

It was a GREAT sail. GPS says I covered around 30 miles.

Low tide launch was a little problematic but once under way had a blast.

Wind was around 10 - 15 and there was very little wave activity.

----------------------------------

I would love to come up to the Delta, I am trailering out of Castro Valley.

What are the conditions like up there?

Send me an email to work out the details - craig at harris-net dot com
