From the looks of it it seems like I'm one of the few people left still sailing with an ST main for the Tiger. I've been looking into getting a new STX one but my budget barely allows for me to buy a bag of gummy bears from he gas station.

I know what the STX main brings to the table as far as advantages, with more sail area up top. I'm wondering what some of your opinions are about the performance of the new sail. If anyone has recently switched from and ST to an STX I'd like to hear your opinions on how noticeable the difference in performance was?

I personally like the STX main but I do not think it is "way better".

We have a couple of brothers who sail together with an ST main who can win regattas against some great sailors. They are Keith and Curtis Christensen, a couple of really good sailors, but they prove that the older style is still fast.

Later,
Dan

Here in Europe people are switching to the new red or blue 2007 main. Looks very fancy, but I have no idea what the differences are.

We have recently updated to an STX. In strong breeze over 18kts the extra sail cloth in the head allows the leech to fall-off to a greater degree than the ST. This allows the STX to be more forgiving and makes the boat more stable.

The STX seems to perform better downwind. I was always struggling off the breeze. Since the change I can keep pace with the other STX equiped Tigers.

This is the only thing I've seen on the web that comes close.

It's from Proust Sails in France. They have all kinds of goodies for the Tiger. I just can't read French, and the Google Translater isn't that great.

Thats pretty cool, it would be nice to see some sail colors other than white and smoked. 2.099= $3,000..$#%^.

If any Hobie dealers see this would it be possible to get some info on these new red and blue sails? aka price/availability?

I converted it to be about $3,000..but I don't know what shipping or anything like that would be. That's including the jib which I guess is full baton. I want one.

I don't think they are class legal (Tiger) yet. For the moment, F18 only. Also, 2099 is the main only..
