Last season on O.C. (Fox) it was Seth and a Hobie 20. On Summerland (WB) it is a Hobie Getaway and soon... Hobie Waves racing.

Whats next?

Spongebob The Movie! Opening November 17th.

We haven't seen it yet, but they used a Hobie Getaway in a scene. I think Spongebob gets bumped off of a bouy or something.

Did you see 'The Punisher'?? Awesome movie with Thomas Jane (Deep Blue Sea, *61) and there is a scene where a guy tries to escape on a Hobie 16 and is shot off the boat from the beach.

All of you would love the movie "Wind", from you tech heads to you competitive spirits- The screaming cat race in the opening scenes of the movie is some of the best footage I have ever seen!

Go Spongebob!!!

My wife and I just went and saw "After the Sunset". The opening shot is a sunny tropical beach with two Hobies sailing by in the background (18's I believe).

Meanwhile, it's 38 degrees and raining here in RI. We both looked at each other and said, "were moving!"

Well- I finally saw the Punisher- loved it.

Do you think that guy would have gotten away if he was on a tri-foiler

In the meantime Marcus- isn't 38 a heat wave in RI this time of year? We got you beat in the finger lakes with sun, but 24 degrees 8)

yeah, today it is 54 and sunny, and I'm cursing myself for already taking my 16 off the beach. Although it did give me a chance to get it all cleaned up and ready for winter storage. Only 5 months until spring!!

Spongebob and Patrick Saved by a Hobie Getaway!

That is how this thing played out. Saw the Movie with my son this weekend. Near the end of the movie, Spongebob and Patrick were riding on the back of David Hasselhoff on the way back to Bikini Bottom... They were jumped by a hit man "Dennis" who was just about to stomp them when the Getaway sailed over and smacked the hitman! The boat was also in an earlier scene in the background. All in all about 5-10 seconds of screen time. Never saw the other boats. Looked like they painted one in in one scene... sailing. Was really hard to even recognize it as a sailboat though.

There's an old movie called Violets are Blue with Sissy Spacek which has a good Hobie Cat racing scene in the early part of the movie...

By the way - Wind has some good racing scenes with trapeze action, but I don't think they're on catamarans - I think they may be racing International 18s or some another type of performance dingy racing - great stuff though!

yeah- you're right. I was thinking of Violets are Blue. Wind is a great movie but those are I-18's I think too.

Well a mind is a terrible thing to waste- I don't know why they wasted one on me

In the movie Wind, as it was stated, they where racing high performance mono haul dinghy's, not catamarans, but your right still a great scene.

Again not a Hobie Cat, but an awesome Catamaran Sequence, if you have never seen the Thomas Crown Afair with Pierce Brosnan (SP?), you are missing out. The cat's used there are D-Class boats (I do not think the trapeze rig was real.), but these scene's will make your palms sweat! Especially the capsize.

During the infamous Yacht Club scene (hey! You scratched my anchor!) There are a LOT of Hobies cruising the lake.

We watched this movie again for the first time since we've been into Hobie sailing and my boys were amazed at all the 'Cats on the water.

Cheers,
Nick

Just finished our annual tradition of watching Caddyshack and Christmas Vacation   I know every line by now, but still love them. Oh well, egg nog and rum has that effect

I never realized how many cats were in that scene - you're right! You get a free bowl of soup with that hat 8)

peace out- Carl the Greenskeeper
