We have side kicks for our Revolution. We are having a problem after installing the sidekicks. The cross bar cannot be tighetened down enough to keep the cross bar from moving around in a circle. Also the arms of the side kicks when inserted do not go in easily and cannot be removed easily. This whole setup will rotate up when any pressure is placed on the inflatable arms. Anyone have any experience with the side kicks and any suggestions??? Thanks

I also installed the side kicks just behind the seat on my Revo this year. I was able to get nuts and washers on the end of the bolts. I didn't like the well nuts supplied. My bar screwed down tight and doesn't move. My first guess is the well nuts are turning with the screws and therefor not getting tight around the bar. I would check the well nuts to make sure they are tight.

Maybe someone else has a different view on this.

A little silicon lube on the bar will help it go in easier.

That was one thought we had. It doesn't tighten down tightly, it keeps turning. We'll replace them with nuts and bolts. We tried silicone, but it still is extremely difficult to get them in and out. We were going to sand them and then put a pin in instead of the little popup thing. Thanks!

It takes significant tension on the well nut screws to hold the system correctly. They are just rubber and have to be tightened all-the-way-down. It takles a LOT of turns of the screw to tighten.

The stiffness of the inserted parts can be corrected by sanding the insert piece. It is possible the center tube has been crushed out-of-round. That would make it tight for sure.

Certainly agree that using bolts and nuts is more secure. Using well nuts allows easier installation only.

Ok, we got the screws and nuts, but how do you reach them?? I'm guessing you used a special tool that we don't have in our travel trailer at this time. Or may-be your arms are really, really long. :) We haven't crushed the tubes and are going to try sanding them down a bit. They were ridiculously tight from the start.

When I installed my bar on the Revo I used a socket on the ratchet. A little sticky something to hold the washer. Have someone else turn the screw. You will want to purchase a longer screw in the 2 inch range. It is a feel and judgment call to get the nut on the screw but it isn't hard. Took about five minutes. The ratchet will give you the extra length you need. Hope it goes well for you.

I think we need longer arms or a longer extender on our wrench. We thought about using a small child and put them through the hatch, but didn't know how their parents would feel about shoving their child into a kayak. :D We are going to try again today and see if our arms have grown any. Thanks!

If you use a ratchet with a socket, the socket will hold the nut & washer. The handle will give you an extra 6" or so depending if you use 1/4" or 3/8" ratchet.
