I am trying to tour Southwestern ontario this summer sailing different areas of Lake Huron and Erie. Does anyone have any destination recommendations that have an easy place to launch and a nice beach?
Thanks

I've heard Kettle Point is pretty good.

Hoping :?: to get a crew out there on the 2nd of Sept. Be great if you could join us.

Jeff, we're hitting Goderich this summer with a little "family" oriented event.

I'll keep you posted with Fleet 185s next newsletter.

there a 3 H16's here in Grand Bend and your welcome to leave your boat here for a week or 2 if you need to. And I think there is a bit of a race up North or Grand Bend in St Joe's Aug 1st long weekend

I'm new to the hobie community, me and my brother just bought a mint H14-T.

where do you launch at Grand Bend? can you dolly it from the parking lot across the beach to the water?

Do you have your own beach wheels? if so you could try going across on the north side of the Pier where the windsurfers launch. Otherwise there is a lanch ramp right at the harbour building in the south side of the Pier it is a good one that they put in when we hosted the Canada Summer games a couple of years ago. you are only 300 ft to get out of the harbour from there. Also I am told people go to Ipperwash beach and you drive right on the beach and drop it in there. Best to call the grand bend harbour master to get some details and if you are getting any answers I email me and i can ride down there and ask myself

Yep i have a beach dolly i could put it on. Are you speaking of the area where the public beach is? because i was thinking i could just park at the end near the sea-doo rentals and dolly it down the beach, i'll call the office like you said.

so were the red car is parked out from the rest? (see pic)

yes exctly where the red car is parked is the spot right on the public beach they wont let people swim there due to the undertoe and they have always let all teh wind surfers laung from there. and also if you look at the south side of the harbour there is a canadian flag where they built the dingy ramp for the Canada Summer Games. My place is about a mile south of the pier and there is of course an H-16 out front.

maybe i'll see you up there!

Ok I won't be at the beach until 2pm that day I have to work... I went down and talked to the harbour staff and they said no problem to launch from the main beach north of the pier near that red car we talked about. I am curious how a 14 will handle the lake if it is rough? we all have 16 over here

I will be coming to the town of Port Franks, ON the week of July 14th thru July 19th. I am looking to get out on a hobie cat or any type of sailboat while i am there. Is there a local fleet in the area? Or are there any rentals in grand bend or sarnia or any other nearby towns? Would anyone in the area want to take me out while i am there? I know i have seen a catamaran or two on my grandmas beach. But that was before i even knew about sailing
