AND HOW! My friends tell me that when I come back in from sailing on my AI (early 2007 model with LOTS of hours & miles on her), I'm wearing a grin so big it connects in the back! The only drawback to the AI, apart from it being only a single seater, is that every time I take to the water, somebody stops me to ask about the boat. But you'll get used to that. :D

My advice: Run, don't walk, straight to your dealer and get out there and start sailing. You won't regret it.

Happy Sailing,
- Jim

Congratulations Ger!...good choice.

Next May I have to return to Walton-In-Gordano (Clevedon) and will remain stuck there until the following October WITHOUT my AI. I will look out for a yellow sail somewhere between Steepholme and the Severn bridge on my evening walk along the Bristol channel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did you know I went for the yellow one?

From what I can gather, you'll see my grin before you see my sail.

Hi Ger, I know how you feel having to wait for your boat to arrive. A mate and I recently got interested in the AIs and have ordered one each. Three weeks delivery also and we are both hanging out to get them. I have been reading many of the threads of other owners excursions which itself is exciting and entertaining in the meantime. I particularly love to read about the many adventures being had in the Everglades of Florida which must be an AI paradise though I was wondering about the aligator threat. We have many suitable bodies of water here in Victoria Australia with no such preditors which we intend visiting over the next year or so...Pirate

I kayak in alligator infested waters all the time. I have encountered only one gator that made me nervous.

Little gators are totally fearless, but you'd better leave them alone. Mama's around. As they get older, they get more and more afraid of humans, possibly due to the large number of armed rednecks in this area. Usually, by the time they are as long as my leg, they view humans with suspicion. Above 8 feet, they're very shy.

I encountered one that must have been 12 feet, and was not scared of me one bit. Seemed to be looking at me like I might be on the menu. That'll get your heart rate up. I paddled by quickly, trying to look like I could go even faster if I wanted to. Gators are lazy. The next time I encountered that particular gator, it came off the shore and sat right in the middle of the narrow creek I was going up. There was no room to turn around. Having no other good ideas, I decided to charge. I dug in my paddle and went straight at the gator. When my bow was only a few feet away, he silently went under. Whew! Didn't call my bluff, and I had nothin'!

I never saw that gator again, though I heard that a large gator had taken to swiping fish from fishermen up at the dam. Pick the wrong fisherman, and that could be a fatal mistake if you're a gator...

LOL Tom. Your adventures sound like the way adventures are meant to be but I think I could do without the aligator bluffing antics that I know would have my heart thumping. And they say Australia has all the deadly beasties.....Regards, Pirate
