In light air when hitting wakes my H16 rocks, the mast rotates and slams into the stops on the base and the shrouds tension and release violently. I sail my rig as tight as possible and that seems to help.

I have found hairline cracks under the lip around the area of the anchor bar. I think the bars are too short and put too much load in a small area.

Questions: Has anyone had longer anchor bars made? Do you think they need to be bent to match the curvature of the hull? Does Hobie reinforce this area? And if so would it be bad to have longer anchor bars that extend beyond the reinforced area?

Thanks for any comments.

The bars have always been about the same. The area is reinforced. Cracks under the lip are common and are often on a new and unused boats due to flexing the lip during de-molding. Certainly there are possible failure issues here. If you are truly concerned, I would grind away the gel coat and lay up a few layer of cloth extending a bit beyond the anchor area. Keep the rig tight.
