It seems some boats, like the 18, have good years, better years, and best years. Are there any particular years to avoid or years when new features have been added?

I am currently shopping for a 21SC and could use some guidance from people who know. Has there been any design progression, or are the 2003 boats identical to the 1993s?

Does the 21SC have a self tacking jib?

Thanks for any and all help.

Design never changed.

Jib was rigged just like the 18.

I think (from my own experience) that just finding one at a reasonable price is the key. My first SC came from Rochester NY, the second from Minn Mn. I live in southern Florida. I did help someone find a SC in Dallas after my second purchase. He took it to the Bahamas.
Good luck.

Matt, Thanks for the history, it opens the availablity picture a bit knowing they are all the same. Sounds like your team got it right the first time!

Jerry, If you run across any more out there, I would love to hear about them. Then perhaps we'll cross paths out there in the gulf sometime soon.

Thanks for the help. I'll send you an email. I would welcome hearing about any available SC's out there. Also, thanks for the offer of a sail. It's pretty cold up here in Indiana right now. The thought of warm sail on the Gulf sounds good. Not sure if/when I could get there though.

I had to drive 1200 miles r/t to get my SC.

There's a SE up for sale over on the Beachcats in California. Another SE in Jacksonville Fl on Craigslist. I swear I saw a SC on the net for sale recently too, but I can't remember where I saw it.

Ok, I found it. It's in Calif. too and is also n the Beachcats. Listed 11/08

1200 miles I would do. 5000 is a problem, although if it's a pristine boat at a bargain price and I don't see what I need closer to home, who knows?

Thanks for the tip on the boats you saw. I think my needs dictate an SC over an SE, even though more speed is always better.

Should you happen across any more, I would like to hear about them.
