This should entice you to get to the West Coast...

Thanks Don. I started a job 6 weeks ago. It was temporary, I was supposed to have about 10 weeks of work. Got them caught up in 5, so I'm back in the bread lines. Oh well, got a call to build some bookcases earlier today.

I don't know how you guys do it living there. I have a tough time keeping a .45 out of my mouth here in the winter, and the sun comes out once in a while.....

The bonus system is an interesting concept though.

I've been kicking around taking the last few classes I need to become an air traffic controller, and turning the woodworking into a hobby. I'd have a really kick ass shop for a hobbiest!

Okay, I HAVE to butt in here:
I, unlinke most of you, KNOW Karl pretty well. Airtraffic Controller, Cop, day care provider, birthday clown, nurse or lunch lady are NOT jobs Karl will be able to be successful at. He just doesn't have the genetic make up to deal with people dumber than himself on a day to day basis without, let's just say, wigging out.
Living in a cave, killing varments with a high powered rifle, playing video games, making homemade soap out of human fat: These are things Karl would be good at, and if they actually paid a salary, he'd probably do any of them willing and gleefully.
I am just trying to help here.

"Varment"... Is that like a varmit who works for the government?

I could be all over that.

Absolutely not... I assume that if I bothered to do a wikipedia look-up, "varment" would come up as a legit word. But knowing how they can incorrectly define new words, I thought I better go to the authority for a proper definition.

One lives north of the "Grit Line" and the other lives (and dies) south of the "Grit Line"

Varment vs varmit.....its a suthern thang...... Chris was just trying to talk outside of his dialect. Besides they don't really have varmits in the north, they call them pests.

FYI "Grit line" is also known as the Mason Dixon Line :P

Okay, fine. I am just being a little silly.
Karl would make a great Airtraffic controller, most likely a fantastic daycare provider and would most certainly be an awesome birthday clown.
I think in a perfect world, he would work at a Starbuck's behind the counter serving coffee to the upscale young urbanites that he most definitely loves and cherishes and respects 8 hours a day. Plus, that would give my buddy Karl, the opportunity to wear at least 36 pieces of flair on his apron.

More FYI,

A "Yankee" is someone from the north that travels south of the grit line to visit.

A "Damned Yankee" is someone from the north that travels south of the grit line and stays.

Does that rule apply if your west of the Mississippi?

Nah. We need the traffic.

Can anyone tell with CW's reversal that I talked to him on the phone? Geez, how bored are we?

Stephen- How's that lake to on the east side of Longmont? Or the bigger one south east of Greely? The ATC Center that would be my first choice of places to work is in Longmount. I need to get the hell out of Minnesota.

CW- Actually, even if the pilots are idiots, thier lives are in your hands, and the have to do what they're told. (Unless the TCAS goes off, then they have to listen to that). You're right though, I don't like dealing with people dumber than me.

They are all puddles, with switchy crazy mountain winds coming off of the front range of the Rockies, with downdrafts bad enough to knock over even the most experienced of sailors.

Why do you think I travel so much ????????

Stephen
