GETAWAY THE AMOUNT OF RAKE FOR THE MAST

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE NORMAL RAKE THAT IS ALLOWED,AND WHAT IS NORMAL!

Normal Mast Rake?

Mast Rake is completely adjustable to the point that the main sail might not be able to sheet tight if the mast is too far aft. As a general rule, I rig most cats so the mainsheet blocks touch or nearly touch when the main sheet is tensioned.

Mast aft is typically better for upwind sailing and helps to keep the bows up when reaching. It would "de-power" the boat.

Mast forward "powers-up" the boat. Heavier crews sometimes like the mast a little more forward.

As Matt points out mast rake depends on crew weight and personal preferences. So you'll need to experiment and find out what works best for you.

While aft rake tends to depower the boat somewhat, I also found that it makes tacking a little harder. In light or shifty winds, you may want to refrain from raking too far aft.

BTW, has anyone used quick release pins on the shrouds and forestay adjustment plates? The small ring dings are an annoyance when I have cold and wet fingers. At the same time, I don't want to chance loosing the mast!
