Even better, a Kerry blue!
Mind you, haven't seen the critters around for a while, maybe they are learning to keep their distance. But then I haven't started fishing yet so early days......
I am greatly comforted by the fact that I don't have to worry about great whites!. Now that would be a problem.

Matt

Thank you for your reply, please let us know when the extension is available. I'm interested but will wait until extension is available.

Thanks again

Matt- I couldn't help but notice that the boat you have the tramp on has a different style of Aka connection than the style I have. (Stainless pin on a bungee)

Is this something new or is it perhaps the way the AI upgrade kit comes when you purchase it seperately?

Just curious, as my Aka connections are starting to get rounded out and loose and I've been wondering if I'll ever have to replace them.

Good spot! To me it looks like a knuckle joint (like in an auto front end) - maybe there is a hardened rubber bushing in the end of the aka brace with a larger pin. It is not the standard SS pin hinge joint. Evidence of a same or similar "knuckle joint" were seen in pics of the AI tandem in the Watertribe Everglades marathon. In fact, what looks like the same tramps also appear on tha AI2 prototypes.

Well spotted there Mike!
I agree with you Yakaholic -they do look similar to the joints on the prototype Tandem AI.
Hmmmm ....very interesting!

Hiking straps and trapeze wires? You would need a much longer hiking stick. :)

Don't think we will be going there.

Crossbar connection: Hard to get things past you guys. R&D stuff.

How satisified are your engineers on the 'new knuckle' aka brace connection?
They look like they will have much less 'rounding wear' than the old style.

If so, any idea when they might be available as replacements for the old style?

I can't comment further on R&D stuff. We will detail when / if they make it to production.

I like the trampoline idea, how soon before Hobie offers the tiller extension so we can hike out on them?

Thanks

Maybe some sort of ball coupler, similar to what's on the end of the aka strut. That way the hiking bar can be easily removed when not needed. The ball could be either mounted onto the end of the current tiller handle (U-shaped bracket that fits over or around the tiller) or be a replacement handle with the ball molded into it. At any rate I think I'm going to be standing in front of the parts display at West Marine this weekend, with that far-away "can I design it with what I see in front of me" look on my face. The sales counter guys like it because they know they're going to make a sale, but they also know that they'll have to listen to me argue the various design possibilities with myself (and sometime with them as well). But, that's what makes it fun!

Happy Sailing,

Ok I will pass on trap wires As far as a tiller extension I still have a stick off the Miracle 20 I sold. Also any thought of using a swiveling mainsheet cleat to make cleating and uncleating easier from the wings.. The AI is starting to look very flying moth like
Thanks agin,
Mike

I like that idea, and I'm going to be in front of the parts display anyway. I'm going to have to look into that one.
