I am considering purchasing a used 21SE. Can anyone tell me if parts are still readily available? I don't see the boat listed in the Hobie catalog or are the H20 parts interchangeable?

Thanks.

No masts, no forward crossbars thats for certain.

Find a parts diagram here: http://www.hobiecat.com/support/pdfs/H21SE_Parts.pdf

Thanks Matt.

I've been sailing a Hobie for many years. Started with a 16 and now sail a H18. Is there anything in particular to examine on a H21SE that may warrant walking away from the boat? I can handle the routine inspection points but would appreciate any input regarding this design.

Thanks

Since the mentioned mast and forward xbars are unavailable... those should be inspected.

The crossbar sleeves has issues where they would rotate in the hulls on the oldest boats.

The boat was pretty bullet proof otherwise. I'm sure some other owners in the forums here will pipe up with there experience... been a long time since I have seen one.

Ok I'll check those areas.

I am looking at two boats. One is a model year 88 21SE and the other is model year 92 H20. The 20 appears to be cleaner as the 21 shows sign of saltwater use. Naturally only seeing pictures I am speaking a tad premature on condition. I've read on the forum early H20 hulls had a manufacturing issue. Is this true and if so what years?

So I have planned a road trip to see both and hope for the best.

Thanks Matt for the input and anyone else who cares to offer any thoughts.

I think the '92 H20 would be good. We had a production issue in late '93 - 94 model year.

Apparently you can't get a trampoline for the 21 se as well. I am having a hard time finding one myself.

i have had tramps (wing and main) replaced by a sail shop.
they have done great work.
the forward tramp on the 21 SC ripped (crew fell thru); the sail shop used the outside and sowed mesh in the opening. looks and works great.
huge savings

Just to be clear...

21 "SC" (Sport Cruiser) parts and tramps / sails are still offered.

I looked on line for a tramp for the 21SE (1988) and found these sites. Do any of you know of these companies? I found them on the net, but would like to know if anyone has used them and if they are credible sources to get a new tramp.

cheers.

I just bought a new 1 piece mesh for my 21se from Murrays spring of 2009 and it was in stock (not usually in stock). It is great and I love it. Just call them and ask. You can also get wing covers.
