The Adventure Island Sailors Map
http://platial.com/mapv/AI%20Sailors/729387

I thought it might be helpful for Adventure Island owners to be able to  SEE  where we are on a map. I know a thread or two (or three) on the subject of "where are you" have been started, which required reading through all the replies to see if someone was nearby.

I found a website (Frappr & Platial Maps) that offers a Mapping Service, and it seems to work easy enough. If you sail an Adventure Island, please go to the map and add your name and location. I designated two types of sailor: "AI Sailor" and "AI Tandem" (knowing there's a tandem version on the horizon). I believe the map defaults to AI Sailor.

One more thing: The mapping service allows you to add your name and e-mail address. Last names are not required, but how about submitting our first name, followed by our forum's username. (Privacy being the issue here.) That would be helpful on a couple levels - and adding your e-mail address is, of course, optional. I'm already listed, to get things started.

If anyone knows of a better mapping service (or a reason why this one is a bad choice), please contact me ASAP. Or, if this one is not working properly (because I'm a klutz and didn't set it up correctly), please contact me. Otherwise - why not get ourselves on a map and see where all the Adventure Island owners are!

Matt: If doing this is against Hobie policy, let me know and I'll delete.

Arno: Hmmm... I use Firefox, too. I tried pasting a simpler URL into the original post.

I changed the link. Maybe that'll solve the problem.

Is anyone else having difficulties? If so, I will re-submit mapping information, and try it anew. I see there are, at least, a few other owners on the map - so it's working some of the time. It's time to start paraphrasing Lincoln: It seems the mapping site works for some of the people, all of the time; or all of the people, some of the time - But not ALL of the people, ALL of the time. ----> And that's what I want!

I will keep working on this, but I could use some additional input from other submitters. ...Anyone?

arno: I don't know why you were unable to add your marker to the "AI Sailors" map... :?:
If you don't mind, I added the marker for you. Thank you for trying!

The AI Sailors Map -

Add your marker, and show us where the Adventure Islands are.

Hello
Well I can't reach up to that point, the Flash animation just hangs.
Guess it has to do with he Flash plugin, working on that...
Thanks for the marker ! Cheers

EDIT : now it works here too ; fix for those that may be interested : Adobe's .deb install file works only for 8.04, not for 9.04, solution being to manually install from the .tar.gz provided higher in the list

I think I was number 33 on the map. Interesting that most of the boats to report in so far seem concentrated in the eastern US.

Tom, you're right - The AI Sailors Map seems to be a little "East Coast Heavy". Guess the west coast will catch up soon enough. (They ARE four time zones behind us.)
