Matt,
This problem could be fixed at the factory. When the brace is lost it puts an end to the days sail.
Why not put a loop of bungee through the spare bracepin hole and around the aka during manufacture?
There are many AI owners who have never heard of these forums and aren't aware of this problem.

We have considered some options. Has to be easily assembled / dis-assembled. Must release completely to fold the akas in a failure situation. We'll keep looking at it.
