hi i am looking to maybe switch from an h16 to an h18 very soon. is there as much h18 racing available in division 2 as there is for the h16. I am not looking to Race seriously or anything. Just for fun. I dont need to be racing very much either. Maybe once every month or two. Just something where i can have some social interaction with other hobie sailers. I am the only hobie sailor where i live as far as i know so it would be nice to get sometime out with others and possibly race them too in an actual reggatta

The 16 racing is far more active than 18 racing in Div. 2. Typical regatta turnout for 16's ranges from maybe 8-15 boats, more at a couple major events. Some of the bigger regattas also have a 16B and/or 16C fleet.

Typical turnout for 18's is about 2 boats (usually the same 2 guys), with a few more racing in the Arizona regattas. I'd love to see the 18 make a comeback (I raced 18's for 20 years), but I don't see it happening.

I have an 18 and want to start racing, Im in San Diego but i cant find much info. I went to http://hobiedivision2.com/ but they don't have any scheduals for 18's. I was about to pay money to sign up, but it does not look like any hobie 18 action they. Where should I sign up to sail with the same two guys who always show up. I go sailing at least twice a week in SD, and would like to race.

contact Steve Murray at Murray's Marine. He sails one and knows every sailor in So Cal that has one. He will be able to talk to you about the regattas that they plan to sail at.

Later,
Dan

Wet N Wild May 15 & 16 2010 at Woodward Reservor hosted by fleet 20.
Are there any So Cal H18's thinking about coming to Div 3's Wet N Wild regatta? My rough count is at least 5 18's will be attending with several more still on the fence. The lake is full and weather forecast is looking good. Fleet 20 has a weather bug link on there web site if you care to check the forcast. http://www.hobiefleet20.com

The great thing about this venue is you can camp next to your boat!!!

Hope to see to there.
