Do you want a comp tip mast instead of your Alu mast?

I am moving back to Sweden and would therefore like to trade my comp tip to a full aluminium mast. (Comp tips are not used in Sweden)

My mast is from 1988 and is straight. It's in the Boston area.

I can also think of buying one if you aren't interested in trading.

I'd think of buying YOURS if (a) my boat was closer to your boat and (b) I wasn't in the middle east right now. I want one of each kind of mast. I only need a CT mast for racing. Can't think of why I'd use it otherwise. Oh well.

Are you planning on moving the hobie to europe? Are you planning on taking the trailor? Besides the $$$ Will you get both registered there?

I am right now investigating the shipping costs. According to others on this site, it doesn't have to be that expensive.

In what condition is your mast? Do you have any pictures?

My hobie and the trailer will go in a container together with our car and personal belongings. The trailer will never go through inspection in Sweden, since we have ridiculous requirements on trailers. I will just use it to drive down to the water (We have bought a house just 600 yards from the Baltic Sea). I don't see any problems to register the Hobie.

When I was sailing on Boston's north Shore (Salem, MA) I wore the wetsuit all the time, except for August. That's when the water gets to about 60 degrees. Even in Aug I still wore teh shorty alot.

I mostly drag the boat around on the trailer and try to hit lakes in the area. Haven't braved the saltwater yet! I'm pretty new to Hobie Sailing as I just bought the boat this summer, but I have been sailing monohulls for awhile. How about you? Where do you sail mostly? I'm trying to find a place where I can leave the boat rigged up and sail from all summer, but no luck yet.

We (my wife and I) are new to Hobie cats this summer as well. We also have been sailing mono-hulls for quite some time. My brother bought a 16 a week befor i did. (thas all it took to convince me).


We have been sailing out of Odiorne Point in Rye, NH. Although, last night we found a ramp at Hampton Beach (very north end of North Beach, across from Cinimon Rainbows) that launches into the open ocean.

Odiorne is nice, but you have to wind your way out of the estuary and through the break water for the harbor. (can be a pain in low tide with competing wind direction)

I used to live in Salem, MA and sailed along the North Shore. There was no public access area I can find that you can leave your boat rigged by the water. If you are willing to make the drive there is a great spot in Beverly, MA. This is where I sailed from most. Look at Sandy Point in Salem Sound. It's right bythe Slem/Beverly bridge on Water Street. Basically if you are going from Salem into Beverly, at the light just after the bridge turn right and drive until your wheels get wet. You will then be on the boat launch.

The sound is nice because Barkers Island shelters it from teh really big swells and you are always within swimming distance of land. Plus the wind is pretty nice too. If you look in the where to sail group there is a thread in there about NH/MA sailing. Other spots have been listed.

The largest benefit about ocean sailing, at least in Salem, is the lack of PWC's.
