I understand there is consideration on changing the steering to make it less sensitive. Has there been any progress?

Yes. A new steering "drum" is ordered and should be available in about a month. We will inform registered owners, dealers and forums when it comes in. This will be a free upgrade.

Pro Angler steering is more sensitive than some users desire. Hobie Cat has designed this new steering drum to reduce this sensitivity. This change reduces the motion of the rudder in relation to handle movement. Turning sharply is reduced, but steering in a straight line is easier.

How do I find out if my boat is registered with you? I purchased it from Backyard Boats, Woodbridge, VA. It was in the very shipment they received and they wanted to register it for me.

You should have sent in the card that came in the paperwork with the hull number on it. That would let Hobie know you had that particular hull. Also, you can do it on line. Need your hull number. There's help on line to find out where that is... I just found mine on the stern. Had to dirty my finger and wipe it over the numbers to be able to read them.

Matt, to what degree does this limit the tightness of the turn? I hope to get one installed and try it before the ice gets here but in case I don't would like to have an idea.
Thanks, Roger

Engineers say the change is minimal. We had it set up to turn WAY too tight anyway. Too easy to turn the rudder near full 90.
