Hey all,

I just got a new upper forestay wire w/ swivel for my Turbo rig (part #10810010) and it's 4 1/2 inches shorter that my old one! Has anyone ever seen this or heard of this? I can't attach it to the furler because of the length. With the old one my mast rake is pretty far back but she works just fine and sails great. I got the new one when I replaced all of my shrouds, I figured I'd replace everything. Any help or ideas would be great. The old one is fine so I just want to know if I should return the new one. Thanks and have a Hobie day!

Spec says: 10" including the swivel. How long is yours?

This is weird....

New one (with the part label still attached) 12 1/2" with swivel

Old one 18" with swivel

What's up with that? No big deal just curious.

Thanks Matt. Have a Hobie day!

Sounds like you are in need of a wire stretcher. After cutting or receiving a wire that is not of sufficient length, the stretcher can be used to make it longer. As an electrician we are often in need of a wire stretcher. The apprentices can never seem to find one when they are sent to get it. Our local hardware store usually has a blowout sale on tools such as this on April 1 every year.

I like to keep my wire stretcher right next to the box of map grid squares I have for putting on my charts.

Good luck with your new rigging.

Chad
