Was talking to a young sailor named JJ at the dock yesterday, who was reluctanct to take out the Lazer as the winds were very gusty. We offered him a ride on the old Magnum and beaming he exclaimed, "I never ride on a Cat before, YOU BET!"

While coming out of the marina I noticed him every so often looking at his "wristwatch" and laughing, with comments like "Oh Man". A little later, on the lake JJ yells "fifteen point two!" I'm like "What?" "Fifteen point two!, we were just going fifteen point two miles per hour!" Come to find his what I thought was a "wristwatch" is a GPS. Pull me out of the 20th into the 21st century.

So who out there has had access to one of these babies, and what's the top speed for what model boat?

I've been "clocked" at about 19kts on a Hobie 16. I haven't tried it on my 18 yet.
