I am thinking of mounting a motor. Do the mounts where they drill into the crossbar weaken the structural integrity of the crossbar? Has anyone considered a mount that is clamped on in some way without drilling into the crossbar?

I have been looking into motor mounts for the getaway for a while now and have never herd of any damage from the cheata mounts bolts going through the cross bar. I will be fabbing a new mount for my self in the next couple of months that will clamp onto the rear crossbar and will be easily removed when its not being used I will post full build details when I'm done.

Iv'e drilled and bolted mine, it's a lot firmer than the clamp system I had before. I can just pull one pin and the arm comes off leaving the mounting in place. You have to take care there are no sharp bits to cause injury, Iv'e used "cup head " bolts down from the top and welded them in, nice and smooth.

Great pics of your home made mount do you mind if I re-post them in my post (Cheata Motor Mount or Home Made)?

Yep no problem, it is already assembled, you only need a clamp, a power drill and a spanner, takes about 20 minutes, email sent.
