OK here's the scoop, We went out kayaking yesterday on Big Chico Creek, had a blast out on the river. We tied up everything on top of my truck as I've done MANY times before. “I have the Yakima BowDown system”.
Driving home and my Kayak fell off my truck sliding across highway 32 and hitting another car “Thank God” not causing too much damage to the other car and no 1 hurt. One of the Yakima BowDown's broke off from its clamp on the cross bar.
My Kayak 2008 Hobie Outback damages; Rudder broke off its back end and the rudder control broke, right side at the forward seam cracked approx. 8-10inches and the bottom of Kayak right in front were the pedals has a 1inch hole. Any suggestions would/will be appreciated.

Man! Sorry to hear about that. From your description of the damage the yak does not sound salvageable. That's allot of holes and cracks to fix and I'm not sure that even if I could fix it that would trust it again. What you could do is get some 4" wide EternaBond tape and use it to cover the holes and cracks etc. I use it on my motor-home and if put on properly it WILL NOT come off. No matter what! Of course this won't look too good but hey it'll still float your boat. As for the rudder, you can get spare parts from Hobie. Other than that, looks like you need to contact your insurance agent and or Yakima for reimbursement.

Sounds like don't touch anything and take lots and lots of pictures for insurance and present to yakima.
