Here are some photos of my rigging modifications for sailing a Revo. The cupholder to the right of the seat is an ideal location for the cheek block and cam cleat. I shaped the wood to fit the cupholder and go into the slot to keep it from turning. Using tin snips I cut a truss plate and bent it to hold the wood down. No new holes in the kayak were needed. I used the existing ones for the mesh pocket. A hardware store quick link attachs the rear block. The other cheap hardware store block and quick link are used to keep the mainsheet out of the storage area where my dog rides. I use 1/4" line because it's easier to handle. 20 feet of mainsheet line allows the sail to be released and pointed straight off the bow which is necessary if you're running with the wind and get slammed by a gust. Here are 3 Ronstan part numbers and 1 Harken number for the hardware:
-Cam Cleat - RF5000B
-Fairlead, Small Fast Track-RF5005
-Block - Series 30 BB Single W/Loop Head- RF30101
-Cheek Block- Harken-092
I bought all of the above from West Marine.
Trimming or releasing the mainsheet is quick and easy with this rigging. It's more useful to have real sailing hardware than the cupholder.

Hey wingit,
A very nice job indeed, complemented with some excellent pics. I believe you are the first to come up with the use and adaptation of a cupholder for sailing! Congrats on your efforts!
Best,
Dick

Beautiful installation! I especially like the way you mounted the cam cleat. 8)

Nice job wingit. Could you show what is holding the wood in the cup holder? Thanks

I am considering a Hobie in New Mexico. How do you find paddling and sailing it in New Mexico conditions (wind, heat, etc.)? I live in southern New Mexico and would be using it mostly at Elephant Butte and Caballo.

I've been going mostly to Cochiti because it's closest to Santa Fe and it's a no wake lake. If there's no wind I mostly pedal, sometimes pedal & paddle for the workout. When there is wind, I'm sailing it. If there are white caps, I put on the Sidekick Amas. On Cochiti the wind speed and direction change all the time. I love being on the water so I've been having fun with all the options on the Revolution.
