racing is world wide. Who races? A group of diversified
individuals who have one thing in common, a love of sailing...
the Hobie Way. There are over 100 regions or divisions world
wide.
Many fleets make up a division or region. Fleets plan a variety
of fun events focused on sailing and racing during the sailing
season, along with other events to satisfy a variety of member
interests throughout the rest of the year. There are yearly Division
or Region sponsored racing events bringing together members of
all fleets for competitions and fun outings. National and International
racing events allow any Hobie Cat sailor an opportunity to sail
and compete with friends from around the world...more

Hobie MEGA Regatta ...results
The Hobie Class Association ran all
of the Continental Championship racing events into one BIG / MEGA
event this year. The event was held in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida
from October 4th - 11th 2002. Nearly 300 boats partisipated in the
events.

Skippers Meeting
The
events included the MINI which had Over 75 boats including Hobie
14, Juniors on Hobie 16, Womens on Hobie 16, Hobie Wave and a qualifier
event for the Hobie 16's event at the Pan Am games.

The
MEGA held races for over 200 boats that included Hobie 16, Hobie
17, Hobie 18, Hobie Tiger and Hobie 20.
The
awards banquet, sponsored by Hobie Cat, was attended by over 500
people. Hobie Alter presented trophies.

16 Worlds 2002 Results
and images Hundreds
of sailors traveled to the South Pacific Island of New Caledonia for
this event. Sailors from around the world competed on 60 Brand
new Hobie 16s,
provided by Hobie Cat, to decide the 2002 World titles for Hobie
16 Youth, Hobie 16 Womens, Hobie 16 Masters and Hobie 16 Open.
