This fall the bull red fishing has been phenomenal, we have caught reds in the 40" range almost every time I have been fishing August through mid-November. The locations have changed, but they seem to be following the bait migration patterns just like us! The passion my son shows for fishing even now at such an early age really gets me excited. He only caught one this day, but it was the biggest one, a 23" speckled trout on a Texas rigged die dapper. Pretty neat to see my boat all rigged out for Hobie Worlds! I hope I remember my bass fishing ways from when I was younger. Pretty neat to see my boat all rigged out for Hobie Worlds! I hope I remember my bass fishing ways from when I was younger.

Great mid morning bite on a school of shallow water bull reds. Saw some glints of color in the distance and after standing up and paddling over I was able to catch a few of these big brutes. Always good to get that first redfish of the day in the net. Especially when it’s raining! Then no matter what else happens you know you were lucky enough to cross paths with some fish! I went out to fish with some good friends at the the neighboring kayak club in Mobile (MBKFA). Great group of guys and I have some great friends in the area that have really helped me learn a lot about the local waters there. One of my favorite fish to catch! And one of the best eating you will find as well. I let this one go to fight another day in hopes mother nature will send a few more over my way! Early morning foggy trout bite. Very quiet and calm. Nothing giving away any fish at all. We finessed our fish with natural colored mirrodines where ever we saw the tiny wakes of glass minnow. This trout hit a bone top dog jr right as the sun was going down. It took most of the day for the tide to come back up, and when it did the trout where up against the grass crashing mullet! Rudy Grigar in his book Plugger called the Chandeleur Islands "the last great wade fishing spot in the Gulf". Well the kayak fishing ain’t bad either! About Brendan

Brendan is known down in Louisiana as one of the “go-to-guys” for anything kayak fishing related. Whether it’s a simple tip on what lure to use for tomorrow’s trip out on the water, to the more complicated kayak rigging applications, Brendan is always looking to help his fellow kayak fisherman. As a founding member and moderator of the Bayou Coast Kayak Fishing Club, Brendan has been at the forefront of kayak fishing since it took off in Louisiana.

Brendan has coordinated and fished in many tournaments for the Louisiana club, and when he is not on the water he can often be found designing tournament shirts for various kayak fishing clubs through-out the country. Also you can catch weekly kayak fishing reports from Brendan on the “Outdoors with Don Dubuc” radio program Saturday mornings at 6:20am CST. radiotime.com
