Article Image - All Action Brazil Hobie 14 and 16 Championships

As the sailing slows down in the Northern Hemisphere our attention turns to the Southern Hemisphere. Firstly we have the Brazilian Hobie 14 & 16. At the end of December we have the Australian Hobie Championships. This will cap a very busy 2015 for the Hobie 16.

In 2015 we have seen Hobie numbers racing increase. The largest Hobie 16 North Americans in 15 years. The largest Hobie 14 &16 Championships in 15 years. It is very encouraging to see so many people attend the biggest regattas. Yet we all need to do some more for OUR to continue to be the largest multihull class.

From the IHCA President Report:

“I feel that the Hobie class is at a point where our destiny is in our own hands. We are seeing encouraging signs of growth but we need the sailors to step up now and make things happen. The IHCA and the regions can help lead the way but execution has to happen at the local level.”

So how do you grow and encourage Hobie sailing in your area? Do you ring some friends and remind them to go sailing on the week end?

Have you been to the IHCA Facebook page lately? There have been some spectacular videos and photos updated recently.

With our new web site and newsletter not all of regular Hobie sailor subscribers receive the newsletter. To reduce spam we need your help in spreading the word. If you could please put this link http://eepurl.com/bqEonn on your Facebook page or email to your Hobie friends asking them to subscribe. This will keep them informed of all the Hobie news. to keep up with all the Hobie news it would be appreciated.
