I got to the launch 3am and was in the water by 4am - it was the perfect night - I am sure you heard of the perfect storm well this was the perfect night
light wind around 5-7 sometimes a little less, the bay was letting out and I was sailing with the out going tide
There was a full moon and the bay was like a lake and the moon was shining very bright
I had 2 rods with me and was testing some Hogy Lures to see how they worked. I had one rod in the holder for trolling a tube n worm type lure and I had the second rod in my hands working some type water plugs
I had battery operated nav lights on the boat including a rear light. I packed breakfast and sailed up to Great Kills, NY form New Jersey
It was was very exciting, there was no waves and also not other boats
It took me a couple of hours to go th 5 or 6 miles up the Great Kills from my Jersey launch point south of Perth Amboy from the attached map
